In 2003, Harness Racing was added to the horse racing tradition of the Fair.  Filling the Grandstand on Thursday of last year, there was lots of excitement for the crowd to cheer about.  Approximately forty professional drivers, many of whom race at Cantebury Park in Shokapee, raced their Standardbred horses skillfully around the track.  Horses aren't permitted to break into a gallop, they must trot/pace in this competition.
