Carlton County Fair 2010 Demo Rules

  • Compacts max wheelbase 104 inches
  • 79 and newer

SAFETY

  • Cars must be fully functional, brakes, steering and throttle
  • Seat belts mandatory, racing harness recommended
  • Factory gas tanks must be removed, gas tanks may be steel or plastic (plastic tanks must be in steel can/box), must be bolted down with steel straps only. (No plumbers strap) and must be covered.
  • Batteries must be secured with bolts and steel straps only. (No plumber strap) batteries must be covered.
  • Helmet and eye protection mandatory. Long sleeved shirts or jackets no shorts or short sleeves. Fire suit recommended.
  • Drivers door should be painted white. A 12 x 12 black roof sign with car number in white letters is mandatory.

TIRES

  • No bar tires on drive wheels
  • NO SPLIT RIMS!

BODY

  • Radiators, engines, and transmissions must be in stock position. No maneuvering of wheelbase to meet maximums.
  • All hoods and trunks must be able to open for inspection
  • No reinforcement unless specified in any class
  • Doors must be welded or chained (weld not to exceed 12 inches per door)
  • Max of 6 bolts or chains in hood or trunk to body tin only
  • Bumpers may be bolted or welded. (No homemade bumpers, bumper brackets or shocks)
  • Two side-to-side bars allowed for safety (no bars facing forward and/or back)
  • Radiators must be stock (no radi-barrels)
  • Stock body bolts may be replaced. (No added bolts)
  • If it don’t say you can you can't

ECONOMY MID-SIZE CLASS 104"-108" WB

  • Refer to General Rules for non-building rules.
  • This class is very stock - intended for the beginner or someone who wants to build a vehicle in a day or two.  NO WELDING PERIOD!
  • WHEEL BASE: 104" to 108" WITH NO MODIFICATIONS TO MEET WHEEL BASE REQUIREMENTS.  NO FUNCTIONING 4X4 VEHICLES ALLOWED. (If originally a 4x4 then remove front aor rear drive shaft.)
  • Vehicle must be left completely factory stock, except as noted below. 
  • Remove all trailer hitches, glass, chrome, plastic, molding, and flammable material from inside and outside of the vehicle.  Dash may be left in or may be removed. 
  • Gas tank must be placed inback seat area, NO PLASTIC GAS TANKS.
  • Ignition may be hot wired.
  • Transmission shifter MUST BE STOCK
  • Hood must have a 12"x12" minimum hole to easily extinguish engine fires and secured with max of 2 chains.
  • Doors must be chained shut in a max of ONE place per door.  Chains cannot go around the frame.
  • Hood, trunk, and tailgate must be chained shut in two places max.
  • Battery must be relocated inside of the vehicle, secured with metal strap or chain SECURED TO BODY TIN ONLY and covered, ONE battery max.
  • Factory original drive train must be used.  Exhaust headers (stacks) through the hood are allowed.
  • Any tire or sheel can be used NO BAR TIRES ON DRIVE WHEELS
  • NO VALVE STEM PROTECTORS IN THIS CLASS
  • NO TRANNY COOLERS UNLESS STOCK AND INSTOCK POSITION. LOOPED TRANNY LINES OK.
  • RADIATORS MUST BE STOCK AND IN STOCK LOCATION
  • NO PREBENDING OR NOTCHING FRAME
  • NO GRAY AREA BUILDING
  • All vehicles must have legible number on roof mounded sign.  Choose number, first come-first served.
  • STOCK, STOCK, STOCK, STOCK, STOCK!!!!!!
